Website Programming Assistance
Making adjustment or adding additional functionality sometime requires modifying raw code. Be Careful!!
What is website programming is not an easy question to answer. Websites can use a variety of programming to create a website or page. In the beginning all you had to know was HTML, now you can use a combination of programming languages to create a website and the technology / options continue to evolve.
Here are some of the most common web page programming languages.
- HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the most basic building block of the Web.
- CFM stands for ColdFusion Markup language, also referred to as CFML. CFM files can contain code to dynamically generate a web page
- PHP is an open-source, server-side general scripting language that has now become a de-facto coding standard in the web development industry.
- ASP is also an abbreviation for application service provider. An Active Server Page (ASP) is an HTML page that includes one or more scripts (small embedded programs) that are processed on a Microsoft Web server before the page is sent to the user.
Blogs, CFMs and Shopping Carts use a combination of PHP and MySQL to operate and is yet another language used for websites.
Becoming familiar with all these programming languages is not for everyone and it takes time and practice to become familiar and confident with editing and changing code. It only takes one thing out of place to bring down your entire website.
